Catholic education in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana is taught by teachers and leaders who are committed to their own personal faith development and the holistic development of the young people placed in their classrooms. Students regularly attend Mass, participate in the sacraments and share in the rich traditions of the Catholic Church. The content of each course taught, from elementary through high school, is examined through the eyes of the Church for faithfulness and morality. Each school requires service to the community with many students far exceeding the minimum requirement set by the school.
All school staff are also expected to continue to expand their knowledge of the Catholic Church through webinars, workshops and reading. The Diocesan Religious Education Curriculum used in the Catholic schools, as well as parish religious education classes, is supported by Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the National Directory for Catechesis. In addition, the high school curriculum is based heavily on the Bishop’s Curriculum Framework for high school students. All grade levels of the religion curriculum seek to help students know and love Christ.
